Standing in front of the iconic Reading Hospital Clock Tower on South 6th Street in West Reading, representatives from Visions Federal Credit Union presented a donation of $3,000 to the Reading Hospital Foundation Tuesday afternoon.
The donation was made to the foundation by the Visions Cares initiative to help fund the foundations Mobile Mammography Coach project.
“There are a lot of women out there who aren’t able to get a Mammogram due to access to care, including those who struggle with transportation” said Kate Thornton, President of the Reading Hospital Foundation.
“We want to take the Mobile Mammography Coach to where they live, whether that’s the city of Reading or out in the County. We want to ensure every woman can get one if they need it.”
Thornton says the foundation began raising funds in October of 2020, and hopes to celebrate with a dedication ceremony when they are finished.
“It’s been a rewarding experience and partners like Visions make it possible with their support.”
The foundation is looking to raise 2 Million for the Mobile Mammography Coach.
